Ready for another fun-filled week in the HDSID? Down Town has a couple of events scheduled for the week ahead and beyond! As we are inching towards spring and the great weather that comes with it, event season is getting closer as well. Farmer’s Markets, Groove on Grove, Artist & Maker Markets… So before you step outside or start making your plans for the week ahead, check out what’s going on in the HDSID!
HDSID Board Meeting
Our monthly Board Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 17th at 10:00- 12:00 in the HDSID Office 100 Christopher Columbus Drive, Suite 303. The meeting will NOT be held in the Caucus Room in City Hall!!!
Subculture Grand Opening
On April 20th at 11:30am, please join the HDSID and Mayor Fulop in the grand opening of Subculture! Subculture is located on 260 Newark Avenue. Welcome to the neighborhood and family!
WORD Bookstore Event ~ Jersey City
Take the kiddos and head on over to Word Bookstore on Saturday at 11:00 for story time! Author and illustrator, Tim Miller will there celebrating his latest children’s book What’s Cooking Moo Moo? Tim will also have a reading and drawing demonstration. This is a great event for kiddos and adults alike!
Brunch at Latham House
We don’t know about you but reading makes us hungry…well pretty much everything in life can improved with food! Plus it’s the weekend. Weekend and Brunch go together like orange juice and champagne, like maple syrup and pancakes, like home fries and bacon…you get the idea! So after enjoying the morning at Word Bookstore with the kids, head on over to Latham House for brunch. Order the Pecan Challah French Toast or the Ridiculous Egg Sandwich which is as the title states, truly ridiculous-ly delicious or the mac n’cheese…Anything you order will be great, trust us. But whatever you order you MUST have a cup of the La Colombe coffee!

Who wasn’t a fan of the VH1 show “Storytellers?” Don’t lie! Between the acoustic versions of your favorite bands or singers songs and hearing the story behind the music, it was great TV. Luckily for us, LITM is having An Evening of Sensational Songwriting hosted by Gary Van Miert. Artist & Maker Market
Do you knit? Paint? Own a vintage store? How about glass-making and pottery? Whether you are an artist or not, support the local artist and artisan scene by buying local and small. The Artist & Maker Market connects artisans with the general population. Kinda like a real life Etsy!

Yoga Fest 2018
Yoga Fest Jersey City 2018 is coming! On June 23 from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm get prepared to have the most relaxing, Zen experience! The event is being hosted by Jivamukti Yoga Center Jersey City and HDSID on the Pedestrian Mall.
Please note that this is a free public event and all you will need to bring is a “yoga mat, water, sunglasses, sunscreen and love” as per Jivamukti Yoga Center (and we agree)
