April 22 – April 29: Event Season is -almost- Back!

The Historic Downtown Farmers Market is back for the 2019 season! We are returning with an amazing mix of repeat vendors you’ve all come to love and some great newcomers that will become your favorites fast! And if the Farmers Market isn’t enough, Groove on Grove is back on May 1st with spectacular line up.

Buckle up: we have entered events season at the Historic Downtown!

The East District Captain’s Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 23rd at 7:00 pm, at M.S. 4 (Bright and Varick Streets) All are welcome to attend.

Bolero Snort 6th Anniversary!

2019 L7’s Beach Party Weekend

Ah summer! Parties, the beach, warm weather, sunshine… Even though we are not there just yet, Lucky 7s has you covered with their Beach Party Weekend! From April 25th at 3:00 pm to April 29th at 2:00 am, enjoy the springtime with some great music and beverages. It’ll help you visualize summer time!

The weekend has the following in store for you and your friends:

 

  • Thursday: “Ladies Night” with Dancing Tony
  • Friday: The 5th Annual The Brooklyn Brewery Tap Takeover
  • Saturday Night: Beach Dance Party hosted by J Tower

National Community Development Week Open House

Take a small break from the music, food and entertainment being offered by the various businesses in downtown and check out the National Community Development Week Open House courtesy of the City of Jersey City. On Thursday, April 25th at 11:30 am – 2:30 pm, enjoy a very informative day on how the City makes our community livable and a great place to work, raise families and live! AND, there will be free refreshments and wellness massages available.

Another event on the same day but slightly different is the Belly Dance Show at Uncle Momo’s! Jersey City’s very own French- Lebanese restaurant is hosting this amazing event which includes: a dance show courtesy of Amara Dance, traditional music and a Prix Fixe menu with four courses for $ 35/person! Who doesn’t love food and a show? With the food being delicious and a show from Amara Dance, a great evening will be had by all!

Once again, it wouldn’t truly be a HDSID weekly blog without a fun author event courtesy of everyone’s favorite independent book store! On Saturday, April 27th at 11:00 am, join WORD and author Alexandra Davis for a story time event featuring her book, Lumber Jills: The Unsung Heroines of World War II!  Heroines? Incredible achievements being brought to forefront? Count us in! The day will also include tree cookies, costumes, a Timber Corps workout, and coloring!

 

This is an important event not only for our young ladies but for everyone to learn about these brave women!

Historic Downtown Farmers Market is BACK!

Our Farmers Market is back at the Grove PATH Plaza on April 29th! Come out on opening day to do your shopping, say hello to our returning vendors and meet the new ones! Also, Councilman James Solomon and his office will be handing out reusable bags (until supplies last of course) as a reminder for the ban on single-use plastic carry-out bags. Everyone better be prepared for the Plastic Bag Ban that’s coming into effect on JUNE 28, 2019!
