February 3 – February 9: Hello February!
Well hello, February! This time of the year we recognize and celebrate Black History Month, Valentine’s and Galentine’s Day, Groundhog Day, President’s Day and some chilly weather. The City and the District have numerous events commemorating these events. Read on below for some events happening this week!
Start thinking about Valentine’s Day and Galentine’s Day! Don’t let it sneak up on you and catch you unprepared with some drugstore chocolate- nothing wrong with that but it’s nice to go all out once in a while.
Here are some ideas for that special someone in your life whether it’s your partner, friend, parent… whoever it is, you can show that person some love.

Kanibal & Co have partnered with them and you can pick from four arrangements to give to everyone on your February 14th list! Pre-order and pick up at the Kanibal & Co storefront. Who knows, you might find something inside the store for yourself!

As per the organizers-
Here’s a small snippet of the book Matchy Matchy:
“Maria always matches, but Maria doesn’t want to be so matchy matchy. One day she mixes it up in this colorful and quirky picture book
Thanks to Mom, everything about Maria matches—her clothes, her socks, her underwear, her backpack, and her lunchbox. Maria even matches the dog, the duvet, and the doilies. But Maria doesn’t want to be so matchy matchy. She wants to mix it up! Feathers and fringe! Pom-poms and plaid! Spikes and spots! Leopard and lace! Tie-dye and tutus! One day she does just that and asserts her very own unique style.”
I Do Not Like That Name is about:
“What’s in a name? In the companion to I Do Not Like Al’s Hat, Sophie and Herb send away for an elephant to be their new friend. When he arrives in the mail without a name, it’s up to them to find the perfect moniker for their giant pal. This funny picture book about friendship, identity, and why we have names is illustrated with bright collage art and a healthy dose of humor.”
