The heat is becoming slightly unbearable, but we keep moving in the District! Our Farmer’s Market is still going strong and many of our businesses are back to- somewhat- normal hours. Outdoor seating is a great way to enjoy a restaurant or bar and help support a local small business.

July Meeting Featuring Mayor Steven Fulop
Join the Journal Square Community Association, Mayor Fulop, Police Chief Kelly and Director Flanagan from the Health and Human Services Department on Monday, July 13th at 7:00 pm, for a general meeting and discussion on everything happening in our City.

JCFamilies’ School, Summer Camp & Daycare Fair 2020
Still trying to figure out something to keep the kids entertained during the summer? Need some more information on the various summer camps and programs available? Well you and the little ones are in luck! On Saturday, July 18th from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at 280 Grove Street, Jersey City, NJ, join JCFamilies for their School, Summer Camp & Daycare Fair 2020
This Fair will feature reps from various schools, day cares and camps in Jersey City and Hoboken all in one convenient location!

School’s Out, My Gym Camp is In!
There’s still time to sign up the kiddos to the amazing summer camp organized by My Gym!
The summer sessions began on June 22nd and run until September 4th, Monday through Thursday for the entire day and on Fridays, morning sessions will be held only. The summer camp is geared towards kids from 2½ to 13 years old and the kiddos will be split into groups based on their ages.
As if having fun with wasn’t enough after spending weeks indoors, the camp will have different themes each week! As per the organizers, campers can expect:

July 20th-24th- Circus
July 27th- July 31st- Olympics
Aug 3rd-7th- Spy Kids
Aug 10th-14th- Space
Aug 17th-21st- Sports

Historic Downtown Farmer’s Market

The Farmer’s Market is held every Monday and Thursday at the Grove PATH Plaza and the First Green area of the Newark Avenue Pedestrian Mall from 4:00 – 8:00 pm!
Stop by and get all of your food essentials and a couple of desserts, you deserve it!

Some Rules to keep in mind:
The health of our farm vendors, HDSID staff, and visitors is of utmost important so we have implemented a set of guidelines for everyone to follow. We want everyone to have an easy and stress-free time shopping for goods at the Market. Kindly take a moment to review the customer guidelines listed below. Guidelines were also implemented for the Market staff and the vendors.
We have taken into account the rules and regulations set forth by the Jersey City Department of Health and Human Services. Kindly review the guidelines before attending the Market.
- If you feel ill, please stay home
- If you’ve come into contact with someone who has either tested positive for COVID-19 or has symptoms of COVID-19, please stay home
- All customers must wear masks and gloves
- Stay 6 feet apart from other customers
- The Market will have signs, lines, and information on where to stand
- Follow the signs placed throughout the Farmer’s Market
- Customers are not allowed to touch the food. Vendors will select products for customers.
- Please consider placing and paying for your orders online, at https://www.localline.ca/historic-downtown-farmers-market
- Please do not linger at the market
- Avoid any hand-to-hand contact
- Do not hand payment to vendors directly. Place cash and credit cards on the table for the cashiers to pick up.
- No dogs are allowed at the farmers’ market unless they are service dogs

HDSID Monthly Meeting
Join us for our monthly Historic Downtown Special Improvement District Meeting on July 21st in the Caucus Room at City Hall, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. All are welcome to attend!
Back in Business!
As per the City’s website, “effective 8:00AM on June 15th the City of Jersey City will permit sidewalk cafes and other outdoor seating at restaurants” to start with some precautions of course. You’ll be able to enjoy a delicious meal and a drink in the historic downtown area of Jersey City! But please remembers to practice safe social distancing and businesses should be following the rules and regulations set forth by the City to ensure everyone is safe: Seating in any outdoor space must be 6 feet apart in all directions, Dogs are still prohibited in sidewalk cafés, Smoking is prohibited in any outdoor space and more. Please see the aforementioned website for more info.
The hours of operation for sidewalk cafés are: Sunday through Wednesday 8:00 am to 10:00 pm, Thursday 8:00 am to 11:00 pm, and Friday and Saturday 8:00 am to 12:00 midnight.
Don’t forget to please fill out your 2020 Census information! Everyone needs to be counted!
