June 15 – June 21: Happy Father’s Day!
Businesses are slowly opening up and the downtown area is becoming vibrant once again.
We encourage everyone to please come out and support local businesses- with masks on and taking the appropriate precautions of course!
Shop and support local!
Pedestrian Mall Expansion
The updates and the expansion to the Pedestrian Mall were underway in the previous week and now it has expanded to include sections of Grove Street, from First Street to Grand Street. Visitors and residents alike will be able to enjoy eating al fresco while supporting our mom-and-pop stores. It’s a win-win situation! In addition, the outdoor tables were placed in the Mall area and the HDSID planted flowers in the planters. It’s starting to look a lot like summer outside and the Mall is where you want to be!
For more updates, check out: https://jerseycitynj.gov/community/transportation/pedestrianmall
With the expansion of the Pedestrian Mall, don’t forget to take advantage of the outdoor seating provided by many restaurants!
Smile Pre-school and Nursery Re-opening!
Smile Pre-School and Nursery is opening their doors again on June 15th! They have re-organized, sanitized and introduced new procedures to ensure the good health of the staff, teachers and the little ones.
Historic Downtown Farmer’s Market
The Farmer’s Market is held every Monday and Thursday at the Grove PATH Plaza and the First Green area of the Newark Avenue Pedestrian Mall from 4:00 – 8:00 pm!

For the Market dates the following vendors will be present:

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, uncles, grandfathers and father-figures in everyone’s life! Show your dad some love with a gift certificate for a new haircut. This quarantine has not been too good on people’s hair, so he’ll enjoy that for sure! Or how about a nice meal? The District has a spoil of riches when it comes to yummy options for Father’s Day. Or maybe a nice mug or a book? Most barbershops, hair salons and nail salons are scheduled to open on June 22nd, but as always, try contacting before you place an order or schedule an appointment to ensure their hours of operations.
