Such iconic duos…But you know what else should be added to that list? Wine and Dinosaurs! Well at least that’s what one of sponsors, the LSC, thinks and we agree! Join them for another LSC After Dark event. This one is titled: LSC After Dark: Wine-O-Saurs!
At this 21 and over (sorry kids) event you’ll be able to drink wine, enjoy some amazing food courtesy of Midnight Market and explore with dinosaurs! As per LSC: “At this prehistoric party, you’ll dance with dinosaurs, enjoy delicious wine tastings, and search for fossils in LSC’s popular summer exhibition, Dino Dig, which is based on the findings of paleontologist Jack Horner, the inspiration behind Jurassic Park.”
Not only will your inner Jurassic Park fan be happy but the food from Midnight Market AND shopping courtesy of vendors from JC Oddities Market will sure to please anyone! Food is $5 per plate and the tickets are $20 per person ONLINE. Tickets are $5 more if purchased at the door.

Word is hosting another activism workshop on Sunday, July 22 at 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm. As per Word: “Join three speculative fiction experts, writers, activists, and community leaders to at WORD to learn how Afro Futurism can lead to concrete social engagement in your current community. Speculative fiction often utilizes visions of the futuristic and fantastical to say something about now as well as what could be. But we can do more than replicate current mainstream power dynamics and ideals. We can challenge them. In the visionary fiction workshop with Octavia’s Brood contributing authors Morrigan Phillips, Alexander Vagabond Beaumont, and Jelani Wilson, we will practice world-building and character creation around real world problems and how envisioning beyond our current world allows us all to put the practices of speculative fiction into real world practice.” You don’t want to miss this event! Get your tickets at: www.wordbookstores.com The $40 admission fee includes a signed copy of Octavia’s Brood, supplies and a refreshment from Word’s cafe!
